Toolings Exomars
MULTIPLAST has been commissioned by THALES ALENIA SPACE to make the toolings for the “EXOMARS” project.
"EXOMARS" is the name of one of the European Space Agency’s missions scheduled for 2012 within the AURORA programme. The aim is to send onto the surface of the planet Mars, a robot with scientific instruments capable of taking readings to determine whether or not biological life is or ever has been present.
The specifications require extremely fine thresholds for the dimensions over the entire surface of the cone. Construction criteria had to take into account dilatation of the composite during curing in the autoclave. Finite element studies were necessary to simulate dilatation in order to allow for the temperature gradient in the autoclave.
