Radomes
THALES AIR SYSTEM commissioned MULTIPLAST to manufacture radomes to protect its radars against aggressive climatic conditions.
These radars can be installed anywhere in the world and must be capable of withstanding extreme conditions:
In order to comply with this complex brief, MULTIPLAST carried out finite element feasibility studies.
Test samples were sent to various laboratories to check the product’s resistance to extreme temperatures, sandstorms and heavy rainfall etc.
Once the tests had been carried out and validated, MULTIPLAST produced the toolings and a small series of composite radomes using glass/epoxy sandwich with an extremely precise inspection of the thickness of each of the skins.
