After winning the Route du Rhum 2006 on a 60 foot trimaran, as well as the 2010 race on a 50 foot trimaran, Lionel Lemonchois has launched the building of an 80 foot (24.28 m) trimaran, in the hope of bringing off the third consecutive victory in his record of achievements, in this legendary race.

After close to 11 months of build, Franck Cammas’s monohull, built for the next Volvo Ocean Race, will arrive by road at the Groupama Sailing Team base in Lorient.

Congratulations to Franck Cammas who, by crossing the finishing line in Guadeloupe on board Groupama 3, has won this 9th Route du Rhum.

The American Defender, winner of the America's Cup last February, has just announced the decision to sail the next cup on 22 metre catamarans with rigid wings.
