3rd series of Hydrodynamic Tests in Nantes for The Race project.

On 15th July 1998 the Gilles Ollier & Associès design office finished its 3rd series of hydrodynamic tests on hull shapes for the generic maxi-multihull project for THE RACE project. The tests were carried out at the Ecole Centrale de Nanates facilities which has collaborated with the design office for many years. 21 different hull variations were tested in 7 configurations each, totalling 147 sets of data. The choice will now be narrowed down to the 3 best shapes before finalising the hull design by the end of August 98.
The next phase of tests will concentrate on appendages before starting aerodynamic tests.
The design office will be on schedule to start the construction of a boat at the beginning of autumn 98.
