The results of systematic tests carried out on 28 hull shapes for big multihulls have been thoroughly dissected and analysed. The main parameters which will enable improvements in performance have been clearly identified. Since the beginning of the design study, considerable reductions in hull drag have been made.

Current research is now centred entirely on appendages. As for the hulls, the numerous parameters will be systematically analysed one by one enabling precise weighting of the influence of each.
The results of these studies will be known by the end of autumn. In this way, all shapes of the boat will have been subjected to great attention to detail and will be optimised with the N° 1 objective in mind, THE RACE.

The construction of a big multihull will be able to start in the new year and will be the fruit of 4 years research.

The Multiplast yard which has just recently received the order for an IACC boat for the Yaka France America’s Cup syndicate confirming its place in the High Tech Yards of the World Club, could schedule a building slot in its general organisation for a giant multihull starting in the beginning of 1999.
