Baccarat chooses MULTIPLAST for the carbon implementation of the "Fibre de cristal" collection

15/06/11

During the last Milan international furniture show, the famous Baccarat crystal works revealed nineteen original pieces, imagined by 8 creators.

One of these, the "Fibre de cristal" model imagined by the designers Alain Moatti and Henri Rivière is a flat chandelier made of carbon fibre inlaid with drop beads and an elaborate clear crystal central bowl lit with LEDs. The collection is completed with a wall light designed following the same concept. For this collection, Alain Moatti and Henri Rivière have "imagined a symmetrically perfect chandelier, reviewing the classics, and marked with innovation". The shade of the fibre mixes with the brilliance of the crystal which becomes diffuse, distilling light as though it were an infinite source...".

Symbol of luxury

Multiplast is extremely pleased to have won the trust of this company, whose know-how is incomparable. Baccarat was created in 1764, and for nearly 250 years it has remained the most prestigious crystal works in the world.

For Yann Penfornis, Managing Director of MULTIPLAST, "... More than ever, Baccarat remains a symbol of luxury, and to be able to work on this project has enabled us to enter this world and work with the very best. Every day we discover new fields in which carbon fibre can be used and we hope that this experience will encourage architects and designers to use both the aesthetic and structural qualities of this material...".

Thanks to the properties of carbon fibre, this chandelier measuring approximately one metre square provides a feeling of weightlessness induced by the slimness of the carbon fibre (2 mm).

The production of a limited series of carbon parts intended for these chandeliers and wall lights is currently in progress at MULTIPLAST.
