DESCRIPTION
All structural connections made at MULTIPLAST are produced using vacuum wet lay-up.
This process consists of:
- Manually place reinforcement fabrics on a table, a mould or between two panels to be assembled.
- Impregnate the fabrics with epoxy resin,
- Cover all vacuum consumables (tear-off fabric, perforated film, drainage fabric and vacuum sheet).
- Apply vacuum using a vacuum pump.
- Allow to cure for 8 to 24 hours depending on the type of hardener.
Main advantages of this process:
- Good fibre/resin ratio,
- Good mechanical properties compared to contact lamination,
- Low porosity (1 to 3%),
- Excellent repeatability of parts thanks to rigorous control of production parameters.
- Cost-effective and less expensive than infusion or pre-impregnation.
At MULTIPLAST, this process is used for the following parts:
- Assembly of pre-impregnated panels,
- Production of small prototype parts.
