Reflectivity, radio or acoustic transparency

DESCRIPTION

Since 2010, MULTIPLAST has been supporting major industrial players such as THALES, SAFRAN, SERMATI, and AIRBUS Helicopters in the manufacture of radars, radomes, sonars, antennas and satellite dishes using high-performance composites.

Our added value?
A detailed understanding of materials, manufacturing processes and surface treatments, guaranteeing optimal performance in terms of radioelectric or acoustic transparency.

We work on two main types of projects:

  • Built-to-print: based on the customer’s plans and specifications, we manufacture the part to specification (examples: Cobra, GS100, GM200, Dragon, AS302 radomes, etc.).
  • Built-to-spec: we handle the entire development process, from design to manufacturing (examples: radomes for VSR700 drones, Coast Watcher 100 radars, Monge Sirius radomes, 4120 and Kingklip sonar domes, etc.).
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are radars and radomes made from the same materials?

+

Radomes must be made from electrically insulating materials in order to be transparent to electromagnetic waves. This is particularly the case for fibreglass and quartz fibres.
Conversely, radar antennas must reflect these waves. They are therefore made from conductive materials, most often metal. The Coast Watcher 100 antenna is made from carbon fibre: in addition to its excellent mechanical properties, this material is also conductive.
