MULTIPLAST, the shipyard known for its great ocean-going multihulls, has just launched Jacky SETTON’s latest project in VANNES. The 60-foot monohull \u00ab CIAO GIANNI \u00bb in homage to Gianni AGNELLI was designed for single-handed day sailing. She succeeds another day sailor by the name of \u00ab TOMTIT \u00bb this time in homage to Eric TABARLY.<\/strong><\/p>\n

MULTIPLAST<\/strong>, the shipyard known for its great ocean-going multihulls, has just launched Jacky SETTON’s<\/strong> latest project in VANNES<\/strong>. <\/em>The 60-foot monohull \u00ab CIAO GIANNI<\/strong><\/em> \u00bb in homage to Gianni AGNELLI<\/strong> <\/em>was designed for single-handed day sailing. She succeeds another day sailor by the name of \u00ab TOMTIT \u00bb this time in homage to Eric TABARLY<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Jacky SETTON<\/strong><\/em>, fervent amateur of boats and creation, has already made a mark in the world of top of the range cruising with remarkable designs among which are \u00ab SIMSON S \u00bb a green water tug vessel he completely transformed, \u00ab SENSES \u00bb an exploration yacht and \u00ab PIONNER \u00bb one of the first ULDB, ultra light displacement boats.<\/p>\n

In the autumn of 2008, Jacky SETTON<\/strong><\/em> suggested that MULTIPLAST<\/strong> give form to his ideas and produce an early design within six months. MULTIPLAST<\/strong> rose to the challenge.<\/p>\n

\u00ab CIAO GIANNI<\/strong><\/em> \u00bb brings together all of the ingredients which combine to make a boat a cut above the rest.<\/p>\n

Mani Frers , the boat’s architect defines her thus :<\/p>\n

\u00ab Arising out of the pleasure of sailing, \u00ab CIAO GIANNI \u00bb is a combination of power, efficiency and acceleration. The reverse bow makes for an immediately recognizable silhouette, lightens her extremities and reduces spray drag. The Frers Studio has designed a light displacement boat with a long waterline length, and powerful lines designed for high speed. All of these features combined with a high aspect ratio rig and large draught express the boat’s high potential. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Calling upon its legendary savoir-faire and excellent collaboration with the architect, MULTIPLAST<\/strong> has built a boat to the highest standards in carbon\/epoxy construction, coordinating all of the equipment in order to hand the boat over ready to sail.<\/p>\n

MULTIPLAST<\/strong> turned to HALL SPARS for the mast and rigging, NORTH SAILS<\/strong> France for 3DL carbon sails and HARKEN France<\/strong> for the specially silver anodized gear. Sub-contractors are too numerous to mention. All produced top quality work. In the end, this is a unique boat in the international seascape, both in terms of her concept and her quality of construction.<\/p>\n

After having been launched, and a few days of sea trials in the Quiberon Bay off La Trinit\u00e9 sur Mer, \u00ab CIAO GIANNI<\/strong><\/em> \u00bb will be carried by road to the Mediterranean. MULTIPLAST will have to restep the mast and mount the keel once again on \u00ab CIAO GIANNI<\/strong><\/em> \u00bb before regaining her natural element and sail the waters of the bay of Saint-Tropez.<\/p>\n

We extend our thanks to Jacky SETTON who has been able to create a team and share his passion and ideas to put together a fine adventure in creating a new boat.<\/p>\n
