Following her dramatic collision with a fishing vessel Friday October 17 in front of Les Sables d’Olone where she was joigning the Vendee Globe village, the Imoca 60-footer Hugo Boss had had serious damages. After assessor’s report, she can be repaired with among others, the help of Multiplast.<\/strong>
In fact, Yann Elies<\/strong><\/em> who sail her quite sister ship Generali who has been built by the shipyard, has offer to Alex Thompson<\/strong><\/em> team to use his moulds which were at the Multiplast shed. In 3 days, with its know how, Multiplast<\/strong> has realised the different pieces to be replaced. Hugo Boss<\/strong> is not an unknown boat at the Multiplast yard. We have built her keel last year. When Alex Thompson<\/strong><\/em> sailing team asked to Multiplast<\/strong> if they are able to be involved, as usual, with a commando operation, job can be done in a very short time. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

 “… they have called us at the end of next week, on Sunday we have the green light, on Monday we have prepared the mould in the shed, on Tuesday morning, we have set the carbon outside skin, on Wednesday we have glued the foam and on Thursday, we put the inside carbon skin. About the polymerisation for the hull piece (4-meter long), we have organised a local oven. For the bulkheads (3) and the deck, we have used one of our modulating ovens. This Friday October 24, we take off the mould, packed the pieces and have sent them to les Sables d’Olone…”.<\/em>
As writing that press release, all pieces were delivered on the repair site. Harry MacGrougan, from Alex Thompson racing Team<\/strong><\/em>: “… Multiplast was our best solution for they have in the shed the mould of Generali, sister ship of Hugo Boss. And we would to built the new hull piece in a solo panel. Finally, Multiplast has a high reputation in this kind of operation and it was the quicker option. The hull piece must be glued tonight, for a relaunch on Friday 31…”.<\/em><\/p>\n
