Among our iconic achievements, the five golden domes of the Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Paris, on the banks of the Seine, bear witness to MULTIPLAST’s unique expertise. Designed by the architectural firm Wilmotte & Associés, these perfectly smooth domes – a world first – are made of composite materials and covered with 90,000 sheets of gold leaf. The highest cross rises more than 36 metres above the forecourt.
In 2025, continuing this excellent collaboration with Wilmotte & Associés, MULTIPLAST was entrusted with the composite dome for the Valberg planetarium.

These projects illustrate the diversity of composite materials’ applications in architecture, serving architects’ creativity and technical performance.
What are the advantages of a composite dome compared to one made from traditional materials?
+Composite domes offer numerous advantages. These include reduced weight and therefore reduced load bearing, shorter overall construction times, ease of gilding in the workshop, ease of decorating the interior of the dome, much better shape tolerances, reduced risk of accidents associated with working at height and, finally, lower overall costs.
