The 2 first half hulls of “Code 1” arrive in Vannes

The two first half-hulls of the 33 m (108 ft) maxi-catamaran ‘CODE 1’ arrive in Vannes (Brittany, France) by ‘abnormal load’ delivery from Cherbourg (Normandy, France).
At the same time, several elements of the platform – beam fairings and bulkheads, etc. – are ready. Assembly of the puzzle will start shortly. The construction schedule is on time and launching is still planned for July 2000, before starting a period of sea trials and training for The Race. ‘CODE 1′ is a sister ship of Club Med’, the catamaran of New Zealand skipper Grant Dalton, and of ‘Team Adventure’, under construction for American skipper Cam Lewis, both of whom are also entered in The Race. The skipper of ‘CODE 1’ remains confidential, but we are expecting an official announcement soon.
