magic-catamaran-multiplastMagic Cat 25 back on the water

______________________________________________________________________
After undergoing a complete refit at the Multiplast yard during 3 ½ months, Magic Cat was put back onto the water on Tuesday Oct. 26, 1999. She is the 76 ½ foot catamaran which came out of the Multiplast yard three years ago, designed by the Gilles Ollier Design Team.
This carbon-sandwich machine "makes full use of competition technology", explains Yann Penfornis, one of the three architects in the design office. Spacious enough to accommodate 8 passengers and 3 crew, Magic Cat sails regularly at more than 20 knots.

After having clocked up 50,000 miles (the equivalent of two circumnavigations) in chartering around the Caribbean, the boat went back into her builder's shed in July 1999. Today "she is as good as new. In keeping with her owner's wishes, she underwent more than just a simple bit of maintenance", said Yann Penfornis.
Multiplast has replaced all of the mechanical parts (engines, pumps, water and air-conditioning systems, generators...). Magic Cat now also has new running rigging (ropes) and standing rigging (stays, shrouds, runners). Both hull and deck look brand new, having been sanded down and then glossed and varnished. Finally, the boat has undergone many improvements. For example, her scoop transom has been optimised for diving and bathing.
Magic Cat has now rallied the neighbouring port of la Trinité-sur-Mer for a new sail wardrobe (made by Incidences, France). In the beginning of November, she will head out to Martinique (French Caribbean) to carry on with her chartering activities. This transatlantic crossing of about 3,500 miles should take her about 2 weeks.
