equipe-multiplast-compositeExtension of the Multiplast yard

______________________________________________________________________
Multiplast to grow in order to accommodate vessels up to 50 metres (160 ft).

Multiplast Composite Yachts is extending its covered area by 1/3rd equipping it with a system of climate and hygrometry control. The main modular oven is being extended to a maximum of 50 metres (making it one of the biggest in Europe) and another oven of 20 metres will be installed, allowing the curing of large composite structures.

The resulting covered area will be increased to 1700 m². When finished the yard will be able to accommodate yachts up to 50 metres (160 ft) in length. The yard's 28 metre (92 ft) wide doors give directly onto the seafront of the Gulf of Morbihan, close to La Trinté-sur-Mer, the Mecca of large ocean racing multihulls. The controlled climate and hygrometry will allow Multiplast to perfect even further its advanced pre-preg composite techniques. Such techniques have been a speciality of the yard for almost 20 years, placing it among the best equipped in Europe for the building of multi and monohull superyachts, America's Cup boats, large racing multihulls and carbon fibre wing masts. The first boat to benefit from the extended facilities will be "Code Zero" a 30 metre + Gilles Ollier Design Team catamaran for The Race which started in April of this year (for launching in April 2000).

A second maxi catamaran is on option for confirmation this summer.
