club-medHome straight for Club Med
______________________________________________________________________

Assembled in February 2000, Club Med's platform is currently receiving its finishing touches. Work on spars, appendages and sails is progressing in parallel. The 33-m (110-ft) catamaran, to be co-skippered by Grant Dalton (NZ), will be completely finished within a month.
About 600 m² of carbon have been faired, sanded and at the moment are being sprayed. This means working with a maximum of cleanliness in the entire yard to avoid dust. Club Med's livery is sky blue and white with, for a figurehead, a female swimmer painted on each bow.

______________________________________________________________________

At the recent Paris Show last December, the American skipper Cam Lewis signed a contract to build a 33m maxi catamaran for The Race, in the name of his syndicate Team Adventure.
The construction of Team Adventure started in the JMV yard, Cherbourg (Normandy, France) under the supervision of the Multiplast yard in Vannes (Brittany, France), on Monday January 10th, 2000.
The Norman technicians have started laying the first plies of carbon fibre in the half-hull moulds. These moulds have already been used to produce two identical machines, designed by the Gilles Ollier Design Team. entiques, dessinés par la Gilles Ollier Design Team pour The Race : Club Med (pour Grant Dalton, NZ) et 'Code 1' (pour un skipper encore confidentiel). Une fois la plate-forme de Team Adventure assemblée,

The two first half-hulls of the 33 m (108 ft) maxi-catamaran 'CODE 1' arrive in Vannes (Brittany, France) by 'abnormal load' delivery from Cherbourg (Normandy, France).
At the same time, several elements of the platform - beam fairings and bulkheads, etc. - are ready. Assembly of the puzzle will start shortly. The construction schedule is on time and launching is still planned for July 2000, before starting a period of sea trials and training for The Race. 'CODE 1' is a sister ship of Club Med', the catamaran of New Zealand skipper Grant Dalton, and of 'Team Adventure', under construction for American skipper Cam Lewis, both of whom are also entered in The Race. The skipper of 'CODE 1' remains confidential, but we are expecting an official announcement soon.
